Trophy Donation

Would you like to donate a trophy to the Club in the someone’s name or some organisation?

There are a number of events within the club race calendar for which we have no perpetual trophy.

There are also a small number that are no longer in usable condition.

If you would like to contribute a trophy for any event, please contact Brendan Johnston, Vice Commodore, to discuss further.

The events that have no trophies this year are:

Opening Day Race

Early Bird Series

Hot Toddie Series

Junior Helm

Women on the Water

Dinghy Handicap

Limeburner (Club Class)

Your Club will be very grateful for your generosity.

Tory Race cancelled / postponed

The scheduled race to Tory Island on Saturday will not take place, due to the forecast weather.

If possible, the race may be rescheduled for a date later in the season.

There will be no racing on Saturday, but there will be a one off race within the Lough on Sunday morning, start time 09:30, subject to the weather improving.

Tory Island Race

The Annual Tory Island Race takes place next Saturday 6th June, and the King has confirmed that he is looking forward to our visit.

The hotel is open once more, and serving food in the evening.

The scheduled start for the race is from Fahan Start Line, at 09:30, finishing off Tory Island, with yachts taking their own times.

Full details will be available on the day.

The weather is looking quite settled for the end of next week, so hopefully we will have a fine race, a great night’s craic and a comfortable cruise home on Sunday.

Fingers crossed!

Ahoy! Calling Volunteers

A message from Foyle Sailability…

Hi Guys,
Our next Foyle Sailability days are on 11 and 12 June at Foyle Marina, Derry where we will be trying to facilitate as many people with disabilities as possible to get on the water.

As you are aware, we need as much off the water support (if not more so) as on the water volunteers. Timings are to be finalised but an indicative time is from 11am-4pm.

Please let us know if you are available to help out – if you can’t do a full day, let us know what you can do.

As always, we cannot function without the valuable support of our volunteers.

We will also require volunteers for the 26 June and 7 August for the Greencastle events. We would also urge you to spread the word about the Round Ireland Passage where 3 local boats will depart Greencastle on 26 June to raise awareness for Sailability Ireland around the Irish coast calling at the various sailability centres along the way. They will be joined in Carlingford by a 4th boat. Let’s give them a good send off. More details to follow…

I look forward to hearing from you,
Kind Regards
Karen McCormick (086 3871880)
On behalf of the Foyle Sailability Committee
