Melmore Rally and Commodore’s Inspection

The race start is scheduled for 12:30 on Saturday, on the rising tide. A prompt start as soon as we have water will help us avoid the main ebb tide in Melmore.

The course will be confirmed on the day, but will follow the buoyage, with a finish line due East from Ravedy Island light (lat 55 15.14’N)

All yachts to take their own times and call them in to Drama Queen by VHF on Ch 6.

This event is listed in the LSYC race instructions as a Category B race, where all yachts’ safety arrangements should conform to Irish Water Safety Category B.

The Commodore will inspect each yacht against these requirements and score the boat accordingly. (Boats will not be disqualified for incomplete conformance!)

A copy of the specification is now available on the club web-site in the Downloads section as a checklist.

There will be five additional elements to inspect:

– passage planning and logging

– tidy ropes

– flags and ensigns

– crew comfort

– on-board entertainment

Let’s just hope the weather and tides are kind to us all, and I’ll look forward to seeing you on board, and picking up lots of useful ideas :-)!

Your Commodore

Swillymore and Ramelton Cruise

Lets hope the weather keeps fine for Saturday’s "Double Header"

Swillymore Race
930am Start, course and further details on the day (HW 0826, 4.36m)

Football Special Cruise to Ramelton. Departure is 500pm from Rathmullan. High water Rathmullan is 2041hrs (4.37m)

Firsty has travelled the Ramelton channel recently and will follow the schedule below for any boat that wishes to travel in flotilla:

500pm – depart Rathmullan
600pm – arrive Ramelton
730pm – depart Ramelton (on a rising tide).

Llisten on Ch06 for more information on the day.

If not doing Swillymore, spending the day in Rathmullan would make for a more relaxed start to the cruise on the Saturday.

Sailability Volunteer Call

Volunteers urgently needed for Friday 26 June at the Foyle Sailability Open day this Friday 26 June 2015 from 10.30am until 4pm.

We need a variety of assistance for on water activities (dinghies, canoe, rescue boat) and onshore (ushers, registration, hospitality for volunteers, lifejacket allocation and retrieval, photography, medics and much much more).

If you are free for all or part of the day, please let me know as soon as possible. The pontoons are also being officially launched that day and we want to show again how important this initiative is to those who take part. Many thanks
