Fancy competing against Sir Ben Ainslie?

So this is how it works……

LSYC will run our Autumn Series 4 race on Sunday afternoon, and supply Bart’s Bash with:

  • The boats taking part – class of boat, number of crew, experience of crew – club racer, novice, olympian, etc
  • The measured length of the course
  • The start time and finish times for all competitors
  • The wind strength during the race

Bart’s Bash will allocate each boat a handicap, and will compute standardised results for all competitors world wide!!

It’s to be a lovely weekend, so come along and enjoy one of the last races of the summer, and help raise money for a great cause.

And who knows – you might beat Ben Ainslie!!

Bart’s Bash – take part in the World’s Largest Sailing Race on Sunday 15:30

LSYC has registered as a participating club in Bart’s Bash – the world’s largest sailing race, to raise funds for the Andrew “Bart” Simpson Sailing Foundation. Bart’s Bash will be joining together thousands of worldwide sailors in a race to set a new Guinness World Record, raise money for charity, inspire the next generation and remember Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson, Gold & Silver Olympic medallist and America’s Cup sailor who sadly lost his life in a sailing accident while training.

Come along to the club on Sunday 21st September and join in.  Our Sunday Series Race at 15:30 will be “badged” as the Bart’s Bash race, and if we have enough boats on the water, we will be part of the world record attempt!

Entry fee per person will be 5 euros or sterling, donated to the Andrew Simpson Foundation.
