Trophy Donation

Would you like to donate a trophy to the Club in the someone’s name or some organisation?

There are a number of events within the club race calendar for which we have no perpetual trophy.

There are also a small number that are no longer in usable condition.

If you would like to contribute a trophy for any event, please contact Brendan Johnston, Vice Commodore, to discuss further.

The events that have no trophies this year are:

Opening Day Race

Early Bird Series

Hot Toddie Series

Junior Helm

Women on the Water

Dinghy Handicap

Limeburner (Club Class)

Your Club will be very grateful for your generosity.

When a Yacht is Racing

Yachts are "Racing" from their preparatory signal, the five minute gun.

From this time, they are no longer allowed to use an engine for propulsion.

If the engine is still on, it must be out of gear.

On Sunday, a number of yachts were running engines after their five minute signal.

Those that were using their engines in gear, if you have not already done so, please contact the Sailing Secretary, the Commodore or the OD to advise that you wish to retire.

Happy sailing!

Help RNLI Yacht Sailing Research

Lifesaving charity the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) has commissioned Substance to undertake new research with yacht sailors in Ireland. This is to understand their approach to yacht sailing and their approach to safety. The research is in partnership with the Irish Sailing Association and supported by a range of other organisations including the Cruising Association of Ireland and the Irish Cruising Club.

The online survey is at: www.rnliyachtingireland.substance.coop

The survey remains open until April 30th and it is important that as many sailors in Ireland as possible take part.

Thanks again for your support.
