The organisers of the Clipper Race have asked LSYC to host an information session about the Clipper Race on Saturday next, 16th July. The session will take place at 12.00 on Saturday at the Clubhouse in Fahan.

Lough Swilly Yacht Club has a long association with the Race, with several of our members and ex members involved in key positions. We look forward to hearing about the race to date and plans for recruitment of volunteers to future races. It should be an interesting event.

Everybody is welcome, members and non-members.

I hope we can manage a good turnout – you never know who might show up!

Next Friday the clipper crew are coming to Lough Foyle yacht club to take part in a Foyle punt race, starting at 19.00. It should be a good night. Maybe see you there?

Just a reminder that the annual Women on the Water Race will take place next Sunday, 17th July at 16.00. I would like to encourage as many as possible to take part.

There will be a prize for the winning boat helmed by a woman and of course a prize for an al woman crew.

My thanks to everyone who took part in the Melmore Race and Commodore’s Inspection. Congratulations to Niamh, who won the race. All boats met the high standards of hospitality that we have come to expect of the Commodore’s Inspection, and my thanks to skippers and crew for their welcome and good will. The Inspection was a credit to all involved.

Obviously this fest of democracy has knock on affects! Now everyone wants to have their say!

I have been advised by the Sailing Secretary that It appears that the democratic will of those taking part in the Melmore Race on Saturday is that both fleets start at 10.00am.
