Swillymore and Ramelton Cruise

Lets hope the weather keeps fine for Saturday’s "Double Header"

Swillymore Race
930am Start, course and further details on the day (HW 0826, 4.36m)

Football Special Cruise to Ramelton. Departure is 500pm from Rathmullan. High water Rathmullan is 2041hrs (4.37m)

Firsty has travelled the Ramelton channel recently and will follow the schedule below for any boat that wishes to travel in flotilla:

500pm – depart Rathmullan
600pm – arrive Ramelton
730pm – depart Ramelton (on a rising tide).

Llisten on Ch06 for more information on the day.

If not doing Swillymore, spending the day in Rathmullan would make for a more relaxed start to the cruise on the Saturday.

Sailability Volunteer Call

Volunteers urgently needed for Friday 26 June at the Foyle Sailability Open day this Friday 26 June 2015 from 10.30am until 4pm.

We need a variety of assistance for on water activities (dinghies, canoe, rescue boat) and onshore (ushers, registration, hospitality for volunteers, lifejacket allocation and retrieval, photography, medics and much much more).

If you are free for all or part of the day, please let me know as soon as possible. The pontoons are also being officially launched that day and we want to show again how important this initiative is to those who take part. Many thanks

Midsummer Barbecue Party Arrangements

With the weather improving!!… here are the up to date arrangements for the LSYC Midsummer Barbecue in Macamish Bay
(09:20 HW at Rathmullan)

There will be an all-day option for those that fancy a lazy day in Macamish and an evening-only alternative for the late-comers

Dressing as a pirate is optional, but there will be a prize for the best-dressed crew of the Black Pearl!

10:30 – 11:00 Collect a competition bucket for your boat from the Clubhouse (or pick one up in Macamish later)

Each pack contains clues to the course to be sailed, along with various challenges to be completed along the way. There is something there for all the family, big kids included!

Please bring:

a means of getting ashore! or a friend with a dinghy 🙂

a disposable barbecue

food to cook for all your crew

drinks ashore for all your crew

something to contribute to be shared by everyone – salad, a cake, nibbles etc.

plates, cutlery and glasses for your crew

a rubbish bag

anything else that you think might be fun/useful ashore

There will be shore games and completion of the competition challenges while we fire up the barbecues

19:00 The Annual Commodore’s Inspection of the Fleet

followed by a ‘Champagne’ beach reception to welcome the fleet ashore

21:00 Award of Prizes

Boats may choose to return to the marina on the evening tide or the following day.

If the weather is not conducive to a day afloat and an evening on Macamish, we will  carry on, at the clubhouse, with a barbecue and quiz, starting at 18:30

Please come along and join in the fun!!

Foyle Sailability Volunteers Thu-Fri 11-12 June

sailabilityDon’t forget!
The next Foyle Sailability days are on 11 and 12 June at Foyle Marina facilitating as many people with disabilities as possible to get on the water. They need as much off the water support (if not more so) as on the water volunteers. Timings are to be finalised but an indicative time is from 11am-4pm.

Call  Karen McCormick (086 3871880)  if you are available to help out – if you can’t do a full day, let her know what you can do.

Thanks for your help!
