Tory Race

I’m sure you need no reminder of the Tory Race on Saturday. Sorry I can’t be with you, but William and Karen have me press ganged into service on the west coast of Scotland. I spoke to the King, Patsy Dan, and they’re expecting us. Hope you have the same conditions for Tory as we’re having here.

Football Special Cruise to Ramelton

Football Special Cruise to Ramelton, this Saturday 4 June 16. Departure is 300pm from Rathmullan. High water Rathmullan is 1837hrs (4.44m). At the moment the forecast for Saturday is excellent (pack sun cream!).

Firsty has travelled the Ramelton channel recently and will follow the schedule below for any boat that wishes to travel in flotilla:

315pm – depart Rathmullan
415pm – arrive Ramelton
530pm – depart Ramelton (on a rising tide).

Listen on Ch06 for more information on the day. Conways bar will kindly host us again this year and they have sponsored a prize of €50 fuel voucher. The winning boat will be selected on a points system with 20 points awarded to the boat with the most crew on board, and minus 5 points for hitting bottom on the way up the channel (self declared) and minus 10 points for hitting bottom (not declared, but witnessed!). There will be further points available on the day – details to be announced.

Spending the day in Rathmullan would make for a more relaxed start to the cruise on the Saturday, and the blessing of the boats takes place in Rathmullan on Friday evening.

White Harte Regatta next Saturday

Just a reminder that the White Harte Regatta is due to the place next Saturday, 21st May. High tide in the morning is at 7.00am, so most boats will need to leave the marina by 09.00am. I would ask boats to make their way to Rathmullan, where we will start the regatta around 10.00 – 10.30am. Detail will be provided later.

As you know, the McAteer family and the White Harte are extremely generous in their sponsorship of this event and have provided us with excellent hospitality over the years. I would like to give them some prior notice about numbers who will be coming to the regatta, so it would be very helpful if you could let me know if you’re coming. My email is: loughswillysailing@gmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at this wonderful event.

Try Sailing Open Day

The Try Sailing Open Day was a great success yesterday, with well over 20 new people taking part. If you would like to see photographs, there’s an excellent selection on the Facebook page, with a lot of very happy faces. We were blessed with the weather too.

Can I give my thanks to all those club members, skippers and crews, who gave their time to make this such a success.

I think we may have quite a lot people keen to get crewing opportunities, please put a post on the Facebook Page.
