Opening Day Lunch Sunday 15 April at 1pm

The Opening Day Lunch will start the Club’s social season on Sunday 15th April in the Clubhouse at 1pm.
Jane and Audrey from our own Cafe B-Calmed are providing catering with a choice of menu  and table service.  The cost per person is €20 or £17 with a charge for kids of €5 or £4. Wine and other beverages will be available from the bar. We will look forward to a great turn out for our  first members’ get-together of the season.

Congratulations Stephen!

One of our most enthusiastic young sailors, Stephen Doherty, was accepted onto the UK Sailing Academy Cadet Programme at the weekend.

This is a three year third level apprenticeship based in Cowes, and involves a two day selection procedure.

This is a great achievement for Stephen and we have a feeling that he’ll be going on to greater and better things in the sailing world in the future.

Congratulations Stephen!

End of Season Race

Sailors
The last race of the season started and ended in dramatic fashion.
Saturday was cold, windy and thoroughly winter. Despite that and an early start 3 boats ventured out for a beat to Spit & back.
The IRC fleet was disqualified at the start for use of engine. Not long after that Pladda II went a little too close to the beach and required some external assistance. The remaining yacht retired to help with rescue efforts. All returned to the marina intact.

Many thanks to the crews of LoughSwilly Lifeboat and Lough Swilly Atlantic for a quick launch and job well done.

Christmas One-Off Results

Desperado – Disqualified
Pladda II – Retired
Seventh Heaven – Retired

Have a Very Happy Christmas and a Great Sailing Season in 2012
