Please find details of training for Foyle Sailability Volunteers taking place at the Foyle Marina next weekend. Please ensure that this is circulated this among your colleagues/membership.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING (Disability Awareness) – Saturday 5th April from 10am at the Foyle Marina, Derry.
It is disability awareness training specifically designed to give us a feel for what it is like to be a person with disabilities, how best to approach them and how best to facilitate access on and off the boats – this will sometimes require use of the hoist.
We will be working with each other on the day (not with people with disabilities). The new disabled dinghy Access 303, a cruiser and possibly one other motor boat will the used on the day.
It is vital that places are booked in advance of the training so that we make best use of your time during the session. Please let your club members and colleagues know. It will be a very worthwhile exercise and we understand that not all volunteers will be available for all dates so the more people we have trained the better it will be for coordinating events. To book a place please email: foylesailability
