Power Boat Training

The sailing school are sending a few of their past pupils off for power boat training to prepare for the upcoming sailing school courses. The training will prepare the students so they can act as safety boat cover. There are a number of spaces available if anyone is looking for training in the handling of a power boat. Training will take place in Moville. If your interested in this please contact Martin Coyle.

Swillymore 3rd July

All,
This Saturday 3rd July is the Swillymore race. This will be a pursuit style race with the first boat departing Fahan at 11:30am. The finish will be at Rathmullan Pier. The finish line will be in a straight line with the North edge of the pier, no more than 50 metres from the end of the pier.
As this is a pursuit race then no requirement for times to be taken. Depending on the conditions then timings may alter slightly on the day. The forecast has conditions pretty light, but this may change. Champagne sailing!

Further details hopefully Friday when the forecast is clear.

IRC Certificates 2021

Further to the update previously regarding the requirement for an IRC certificate to race in IRC class.

It has been discussed by the sailing committee and has been agreed that, in line with other clubs, pending the presentation of an IRC certificate a boat can race in the club class fleet. An IRC class boat will hold a fixed handicap of 2.0 whilst racing in the club class fleet. Upon receipt of a valid IRC certificate for the current year a boat can race in IRC class. Any points accumulated in the club class fleet cannot be transferred to the IRC class races.

A boat that starts the season in club class may continue in the club class fleet for the remainder of the season.

For any and all regattas the same principle applies.
