LSYC Lifeboat Regatta donation

On behalf of the officers and crew of Lough Swilly Lifeboats I want to thank you and LSYC for the continued support we receive, it is very much appreciated.

As promised I just wanted to let you know the value of the RNLI boat and Bucket collection:

Boat Collection Box €57.90

Bucket Collection Lifeboat Regatta € 308.62

These figures take into account current exchange rates

As you are all aware RNLI is the charity which saves lives at sea and depends solely on voluntary donations for its operations.

Many thanks again

John McCarter

Fairley Series

The last deciding race in the Fairley Series for Class 2 was held on Thursday 15th September.

Provisional Series results for the Fairley series for Class 1 and Class 2 are now on-line.

Looks like congratulations to Tempo and to Niamh!

Rescheduled Fairley 7 for Club Class 2

Following the cancellation of racing on Saturday due to strong winds, the yachts participating in Class 2 for this series requested that the final race be rescheduled.

Fairley 7 "The Decider" for Club Class 2 has been rescheduled for Thursday 15 Sep 11, with a 6.00pm start.

Since the Class 1 winner for Fairley Series has already been clearly decided, there will not be a race for this class.

Granuaile Cup Sat 10 Sept

Skippers & Crew

Sat 10th August – Granuaile Cup –
As the Fairley series has been fairly decided for Fleet 1 (Niamh a clear winner) Saturdays race will be replaced with a special event for Fleet 1/IRC boats. The race will be
a memorial for the yacht Granuaile – a club boat which was lost with all hands while on route to take part in Cowes Week in the early 1970s. Fahan start @ 4pm.
Fairley 7, the decider, will run for Club Fleet as advertised.

Lets hope for a lull in the autumn gales.

LifeBoat Regatta Saturday 27th

Hi all

This weekend is of course the LifeBoat Regatta- part deux in the triple header finale to the summer season.

As it will be Leda’s last outing, I’m asking my crew for a gladiatorial performance, worthy of the ancient world!! A last chance then for our IRC rivals to end our season with a glorious defeat!

I asked Leda’s skipper John Hasson his prediction for the race. His answer: ”PAIN”.

Due to the 4pm race time, we’d like a prompt start in order to run an extended race and to have time for the presentation in the clubhouse afterwards at 7pm….and joining us for the presentation will be John McCarter, representing the RNLI, and hopefully some of the team from the Buncrana LifeBoat Station.

It goes without saying that this year we all observed the wonderful work the LifeBoat teams perform in tragic circumstances, particularly as was the case in July on the Swilly….and of course your Committee feels it right that the club should make an extra effort to support their work.

We will therefore be asking all boats and participants to give generously on the day. We are not proposing an entry fee but will instead be harassing you with RNLI buckets on the marina and in the clubhouse!

Many thanks for all the support in advance and looking forward to seeing you on the water.

Paul J Hasson
