Melmore Rally this weekend Sat 10 July

The Annual Melmore Rally is this weekend, and this year we hope to leave the marina!

HW is at 05:37 so an early start is planned for 09:30.
Full race instructions will be provided on the day on VHF Ch 6.

The traditional Commodore’s inspection will be in Fanny’s Bay on Saturday evening, and the return to the Marina will be an informal cruise, with some boats electing to sail further over a long weekend. As ever we will all look forward to seeing the photographs 🙂

Have fun everyone!

Weather in Fahan Creek

Those of you with an interest in the current weather conditions in Fahan Creek can use a link on the Met and Tides section of this web-site to a personal weather station set up by William McAusland from Drama Queen at his house on the shore.  All complaints about the prevailing conditions to be addressed in writing directly to Willie! 🙂

Lough Swilly News is back in action!

Today we moved our News section to a new service from WordPress.com, so that we can continue to provide updates on the news and activity around the club.

The previous service from Blogger.com was withdrawn and it has taken a little while to migrate.

As a result, our archive of previous posts from the last few years is no longer available on-line, but we hope this will not be too much of an inconvenience.

Over the coming weeks further updates will be made and we will keep you informed.

Sailors everywhere are invited to join the 10th annual Summer Sailstice celebration of sailing on the weekend of 19 June. Begun in 2001, Summer Sailstice was created as a holiday just for sailors to be celebrated wherever you sail in the Northern Hemisphere.

To participate sailors need to simply sign up at www.summersailstice.com  and then go sailing on the weekend of 19/20 June.  The website allows you to post your sailing plans, invite others or see what other sailors are doing in your area. Whether you’ve just launched the boat for the summer or you’re in the middle of you’re racing season you can sign up to be part of this global celebration of sail. Wherever you are – just sail!

By signing up you’re also eligible to win prizes donated by The Moorings, Hunter Marine, West Marine, Hobie, Offshore Saiing, Woodenboat and many of your favorite marine businesses.  Prizes include a free one-week BVI charter with the Moorings, a Hobie Kayak and over 400 other prizes.  Sign up early and plan to get together with friends and family to celebrate life under sail on the weekend of June 19.
