Update on Race Declaration Scheme

Halfway through the season, it seems like a good time to review the success of the Race Declaration Scheme introduced this year.

The scheme has been well supported by our racing fraternity, who deserve thanks for their diligence in completing the admin at the end of every race!

We have recorded 155 visits by non-members racing on board members’ yachts, and collected €400 in race fees, all of which contributes to keeping the cost of membership at its current level. It has also been an excellent year for new applications for membership, of which there have been 10 to date.

You can see a list of our new members and our visitors on the relevant web-pages on the club web-site.

Melmore Rally and Commodore’s Inspection

Results for the Melmore Rally are now available on-line.

Congratulations to Sammy Burke and the crew of Easy Rider, who not only won the race by a substantial margin, but won the Commodore’s Inspection with a fine display of seamanship. including picking up a mooring under sail, and providing a record of the track sailed, shown here for all to admire 🙂

New ISA Olympic Website

With only two weeks to go until our eight Irish sailors descend on Weymouth for the 2012 Olympic Games, the ISA is delighted to launch a new Olympic and Paralympic website www.ISAOlympic.com.

The website hosts a wealth of information on both the competitors and the sport. You will find news, videos, photographs, biographies and much more.

To coincide with the new website, the ISA has also launched a new Facebook App and Competition on the ISA Olympic Facebook page www.facebook.com/ISAOlympic. Here you can show your support for the Providence Resources Irish Olympic and Paralympic Sailors and enter in to a competition for 16 different prizes including sailing lessons with the Olympic sailors themselves, signed team photographs and team clothing.
