Dunree Head Race

Sailors – Dunree Head Race Sat 22 Sep
Start 10am sharp.

A new one-off event and the last extended race of the season. Plan is to race up the lough turning back either at Swillymore or Colpach. Course will be anounced by O/D on the day depending on conditions. The forecast is giving a moderate southerly breeze at the minute so it’s looking good for a spinnaker start. Presentation after racing in Clubhouse. Looking forward to a good turnout.

Autumn Series starts Sun 23 @ 11am – It may be getting cooler but the breeze just gets better. Put on an extra layer and come and join some of the best racing of the season.

GulfStream Marine Clearance Sale

From Niall:

We are closing our Chandlery shop at the end of September and we are consequently having a huge stock clearance sale between now and the end of the month.

Since the Yacht Club has been so good to us over the years I just wanted to let you guys know and also give some of the members a chance to pick up a bargain or two on anything they might need for next season. Pretty much everything is included in the Sale (Musto, Plastimo, International Paints, Starbrite, Jobe, Electronics etc. etc.) and no reasonable offer will be refused!

After September, I personally will still be operating the boat sales, brokerage and maintenance business as usual.

Many Thanks,

Niall

Lifeboat Regatta 8th September

Don’t miss one of the last traditional events of the year this weekend!

Race start time is 10:00, and hot food will be available for €10 in the clubhouse after racing, around 13:30 – 14:00.

Hopefully representatives from the RNLI Lifeboats station in Buncrana will present the prizes, and collect a generous donation to our most valued local station.

Railway Tavern Regatta and Portsalon Pint

Important changes to published start times this weekend.

Saturday:

The Railway Tavern Regatta will start at 1pm – not 11am as published.

This will be followed by a meal and prize-giving in the Railway Tavern.

Sunday:

The Portsalon Pint & Quart is a pursuit race, and the slowest boat will be scheduled to start from 11am. Other boats will then be scheduled according to their handicap, with the fastest starting before 12noon. Actual start times will be published later.

Conditions permitting, Prize-giving will take place in the Store’s Bar at 3pm.

Yachts are advised to bring their own dinghies to get ashore.
